Families Forming Disciples

For Families with 1st-5th Graders

Faith Formation for Grades 1-5

This new Faith Formation program at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Plainville, CT is for families with children in grades 1-5. Religious education for this age group will bring the whole family together to encourage family prayer and discussion about faith inside your homes to promote a deeper relationship with Jesus. The program runs on a 4-week monthly rotation with required Faith Formation Fellowship Masses taking place at 10:30am on Sundays. Students not receiving First Holy Communion & First Confession are required to meet once each month with parents and students attending together. Students who are receiving First Holy Communion & First Confession are required to meet twice each month with parents and students attending together. Meetings are held in the Parish Center and a family dinner will be served at most of the meetings so there is no planning a meal, no cooking and cleaning up, no muss, no fuss. Have dinner together with your Catholic brothers and sisters. Meet other families and start lifelong relationships. Please let us know if your family would like to volunteer for one night to help set up and break down. What better way to end a Sunday than with dinner with friends. Let’s make Sunday the Lord’s Day again!

Please use the online registration form for religious education to get enrolled.

2nd & 3rd Grade Sacraments Dates

During Mass, children are invited onto the altar for a child-centric homily, and families are asked to volunteer to act as greeters and hand out bulletins after Mass. We also ask for volunteers to bring in baked goods and treats for fellowship in the gathering space after Mass. This year we are also offering a community mission opportunity after Mass as well.
Faith Formation Fellowship Masses will take place at 10:30am on Sundays.
